Many of the photos that we have received are amazing. They are a true insight into the lives of America’s homeless. For the first
time, we can truly see through their eyes, those wondrous and sincere eyes. Sometimes those eyes are different than the rest. Take
for instance 41761-rm. This was a typical camera with typical markings but surprisingly atypical images. Who is this guy? These are not
photos of park benches, or of a scraggly bush. Each and every one of the photos that came from 41761-rm is a work of art. Look at the
composition, the balance and the relationship between the elements of the photographs. These could not possibly come from anyone
else but a professional, someone with a genuine, innate talent. And you know what? They might be a professional photographer and in
my opinion they are, but this professional photographer is homeless.
What happened here? How did a person, man or woman, who has this kind of talent end up living on the streets? Look at the last
photo of this chapter. How would anyone learn about that type of perspective? Is 41761-rm an educated man that graduated alongside
Helmut Newton? Maybe 41761-rm was an award winning photography professor? Maybe there is something we can do to get this
person back on track? Who are you???
Sadly, we will never know. And that, my friends, is tragic. Simply tragic.
