William Edwards
Born in Heidelberg, Germany, and raised in Miami, William Edwards is an entrepreneur, artist, inventor, and philanthropist who has truly captured the essence of the diversity of creativity.
Music is William Edwards' first passion. He founded and directed his own music house at the age of 19. He is an accomplished and award winning composer and producer and is especially proud of his involvement in several Grammy winning records and multiple Emmy award winning projects. With over 80 feature films and television show credits, Edwards continues to build an accomplished and decorated body of work in creating musical pieces for records, television and film. His original music is featured in many critically acclaimed projects including Showtime’s Dexter, HBO’s The Sopranos, Discovery Channel, and Disney.
Along with many years of composing music for feature films and Gammy winning artists, Edwards has also added years of non-musical art. Edwards has been taught and mentored by such renowned artists as Chris Janney, Tom Dowd, and Nam June Paik.
Combining his eclectic style with rare collectibles such as vintage Playboy magazines and antique Sotheby’s catalogs, Edwards makes his viewers feel joy, doubt, sensuality and passion - an evocation he mastered as a composer and now as an artist. Edwards has been exhibited at Art Basel and continues to be privately collected internationally.
For every creative invention Edwards realizes, there is also a business idea that soon follows. InTune Monthly, the nation’s largest music education magazine (which he founded and is the president), is one of these ideas. Working with the Disney Company and the Smithsonian, Edwards publishes Disney’s music magazine and the Smithsonian Music Museum magazines alongside half a dozen additional titles. In addition, Edwards is Chairman of the Miami-Dade Film and Entertainment Advisory Board, a voting member of NARAS, as well as serving on their technical committee, one of the founding members of LARAS - the highly successful Latin American arm of the Grammys, and a member of the Miami Dade College Entertainment and Design Technology Advisory Board. He is also the Chairman and founder of the Innovation Foundation, a non-profit organization that helps foster children’s creativity as well as helping their parents deal with raising a creative child. He also holds several design patents.
